Class 1

A very warm welcome to our page!

This year Class 1 are a mixed age class of EYFS2 (Reception) and Year1;  with a full-time Teaching Assistant, covered outdoor area and additional room attached to the classroom, we are able to deliver the appropriate curriculum for both groups.  Our priority is to provide our pupils with a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment which enables them to develop both socially and academically and fosters what we hope will be a lifetime love of learning.  We are acutely aware that these early days in school are a huge step and we work closely with parents, carers and previous settings to make this experience as smooth and positive as possible.

Our well-resourced indoor classroom flows directly into a large and secure covered outdoor area and children move freely between the two.  In addition, we also have our own grassed section with digging area which also provides the perfect spot for den building.  We are fortunate to have a wooded area in the village which we are able to access regularly with our Forest School teacher and we also make the most of our extensive school grounds.

Although we adhere strictly to national guidelines, we feel that it is vital to harness children's enthusiasm and curiosity by adapting our plans to incorporate their interests.  With at least two adults supporting learning at all times, we are able to provide a balance between teacher directed and child initiated activities.

It's fair to say that there's never a dull moment in Class 1 and nno two days are ever the same!
